“Remembering Bears” by Wildlife Photographers United

By Margot Raggett (Author) and Wildlife Photographers United (Author)

Remembering Bears is the seventh book in the highly acclaimed Remembering Wildlife series of charity books and features a foreword by Gordon Buchanan MBE and an afterword by Jill Robinson. The book is full of beautiful images once again donated by more than 80 of the world's top wildlife photographers, including Greg du Toit, Marsel van Oosten, Frans Lanting, Art Wolfe, Tim Laman, and Daisy Gilardini.

It features images of all eight species of bears from around the world: American black bears, Andean bears, Asiatic black bears, brown bears, giant pandas, polar bears, sloth bears, and sun bears, with the aim of raising awareness of their plight and also raising funds to protect them. A successful Kickstarter campaign early in 2022 secured financing for the book, which was published on October 10, 2022.

About Remembering Wildlife

Remembering Wildlife is the collective name for the series of books created by British wildlife photographer Margot Raggett, who was prompted to take action after seeing a poached elephant in Northern Kenya in 2014. She began asking fellow wildlife photographers if they would contribute to a fundraising book. Their response was unanimous, and Remembering Elephants, by ‘Wildlife Photographers United,’ was published in September 2016, with images donated by 65 of the world's top wildlife photographers. Such was the success that Remembering Rhinos was quickly announced and launched in 2017, once again to critical acclaim.

Remembering Great Apes, the third book in the series was published on 15th October 2018, featuring images donated by 72 photographers and a foreword by Dr. Jane Goodall. On 14th October 2019, they launched the fourth book in the series, Remembering Lions, featuring images by 74 photographers. Remembering Cheetahs, featuring images donated by 75 photographers, was published on 12th October 2020 and won the GOLD award for best nature book in the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPYs) in 2022. Then, Remembering African Wild Dogs followed in November 2021.

Despite all of the challenges of the last two years, these latest books have sold remarkably well, further helped by distribution deals in the US, Canada, and South Africa. Remembering Bears is out now, and enthusiasts can look forward to the publication of Remembering Leopards in October 2023. The continued success of the series is a testament to the passion for wildlife conservation shared by photographers, readers, and conservationists worldwide.
